
Under the leadership of chairman Bart Verhaeghe and CEO Vincent Mannaert, Club Brugge becomes stronger and more professional from 2011 onwards. The cup win in 2015 and the league title in 2016 mark the start of a flourishing period. Coach Michel Preud'homme leads Club to the fourteenth league title, the first since 2005. The championship celebration draws huge crowds. Two years later, Club becomes champion again under Ivan Leko. With Philippe Clement at the helm, Club Brugge also makes its mark in the Champions League.
In 2017, Ruud Vormer becomes the first Dutch Golden Shoe winner since 1976. Hans Vanaken wins the Golden Shoe twice (2018, 2019). Philippe Clement takes over and leads Club to strong European performances, including qualification for the Champions League group stage.
The Miracle of Maribor gives Club the group win and a place in the knockout stage.
At the end of 2010, Bart Verhaeghe is asked to review the organization of Club Brugge. On January 15, 2011, he becomes a member of the Board of Directors with a significantly changed team: among others, Vincent Mannaert joins as the new CEO from SV Zulte Waregem.
On November 30, 2011, Club Brugge writes one of the most unlikely chapters in its European history. In the UEFA Europa League, blue-black is hopelessly 3-0 behind with a quarter of an hour to play at Slovenian NK Maribor. But under coach Christoph Daum, a spectacular comeback follows. Nabil Dirar scores twice, Joseph Akpala equalizes, and Ryan Donk heads in the 3-4 in the very last minute. From 3-0 to 3-4 in just fifteen minutes. The victory gives Club the group win and a place in the knockout stage. The Miracle of Maribor remains a symbol of unwavering mentality and the belief that nothing is impossible.
Sunday, March 22, 2015, is a day of deliverance. Club wins the Belgian Cup 2-1 against Anderlecht after a thrilling finish. A wonderful goal by Lior Refaelov in injury time leads to unprecedented scenes of joy. Club wins a trophy for the first time since 2007. A few days earlier, Club had already qualified for the quarterfinals of the Europa League in Istanbul.
An ever-stronger Club, shaped in the image of coach Michel Preud’homme, is unstoppable during the 2015-2016 season. Before the championship match on May 15, 2016, the team bus is awaited by a mass of supporters. The streets around the Jan Breydelstadion are packed. Club wins 4-0 against Anderlecht and becomes champion for the fourteenth time, the first title since 2005. Coach Michel Preud'homme is voted Coach of the Year at the end of the season.
Colombian winger José Izquierdo plays an important role in winning the league title. It earns him the Golden Shoe in 2016. In the following years, a Club player wins the Golden Shoe each year: Ruud Vormer in 2017 and Hans Vanaken in 2018 and 2019. In 2024, Hans Vanaken will win the Golden Shoe for the third time.
When Michel Preud’homme leaves after the 2016-2017 season, Ivan Leko becomes his successor. There is an early European exit, but domestically Club is the best again. On May 13, 2018, a draw at Standard is enough for the fifteenth league title.
In May 2018, Club Brugge begins construction of the Belfius Basecamp, an ultra-modern training complex in Westkapelle that would lead the club into a new era. After more than a year of building, chairman Bart Verhaeghe officially opens the doors of the complex on September 11, 2019. The Basecamp has four outdoor fields (three with hybrid grass), a covered artificial turf field, a swimming pool with rehabilitation center, a fully equipped gym, 40 hotel rooms, an auditorium for press conferences and tactical meetings, and a TV studio. The complex houses not only the first team, but also Club NXT and Club YLA.
With Philippe Clement as coach, Club Brugge enters the Champions League qualifiers. It qualifies as the first Belgian club via the non-champions path for the group stage, eliminating Dynamo Kyiv and LASK. In the group stage, Club faces Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Galatasaray. Club pulls off a shock in the Bernabeu, drawing 2-2. Emmanuel Dennis scores both goals.
It qualifies as the first Belgian club via the non-champions path for the group stage.
